For, through conversation, we find friends and keep old friends and are not old friends often the best? In time all artificial entertainments bore and weary but true companions, to whom you can talk without second thought, are never dull.
Conversation is the human attribute—no animal can talk or laugh—and we do not even realize what we miss if we are unable to indulge freely in it. We miss more than half of the pleasure of life and nobody can afford that.
